History of Live For Him Heartland Academy
The Live For Him Heartland Academy was founded in ??? by the Heartland Worship Center in rural Bugiri, Uganda to serve children who lived too far from Bugiri to go to school there. Up until 2023, the school had an average attendance of about 170 students. In November 2023 John and Julie Battern visited the school and learned that the students were arriving at the school between 7:30 and 8:oo a.m.; attending classes all day until about 4:00 p.m. and receiving nothing to eat during that time. John and Julie returned home convinced something had to be done. In December 2023, the Live For Him Ministry Board approved a plan to create a feeding center at the school. Since then, Live For Him Ministries' involvement with the school has exploded.
